The Subaru Wilderness models are ready for bigger adventure with more than nine inches of ground clearance. The Forester Wilderness offers 9.2 inches of ground clearance, while the Outback Wilderness can tackle more challenging trails with 9.5 inches of ground clearance.



Both Wilderness Edition models include standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and Enhanced Dual-Function Subaru X-Mode®. This unique terrain management system has Snow, Dirt, Deep Snow, and Mud drive modes so you can easily navigate any road condition. When it comes to towing on your next adventure, the Wilderness SUVs are ready. The Subaru Forester Wilderness has a 3,000-pound maximum towing capacity, while the Subaru Outback Wilderness can tow 3,500 pounds.

Performance

Under the hood, you'll find that the two Wilderness models offer a bit of a different experience. The Outback Wilderness comes standard with a 2.4-liter turbocharged BOXER® engine that produces 260 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque. The Forester Wilderness doesn't lack power, coming standard with a 2.50liter naturally-aspirated BOXER® engine that delivers 182 horsepower and 176 pound-feet of torque.



Towing

Both models receive a towing capacity upgrade over the base models, making them ideal for camping adventures with an attached trailer. The Outback Wilderness tows a maximum of 3,500 pounds, up from 2,700 on the Outback base model. If you're looking for a more significant jump, the Forester Wilderness enjoys a maximum towing capacity of 3,000 pounds, up from 1,500 pounds on its base model. The Forester Wilderness also features standard trailer stability assist, which helps prevent movement on the road.

Wilderness Design & Style

Subaru SUVs are adept at taking on obstacles in your way with improved ground clearance. With the Wilderness Edition, the Outback has a ground clearance of 9.5 inches, while the Forester offers 9.2-inches. The Outback has greater ground clearance than the Forester, but the Forester is taller and has a shorter wheelbase, providing you more room inside the cabin. The Outback Wilderness Edition also features an Advanced Dual-Function X-MODE® setup, allowing you to handle deep snow and more with more traction control. The Forester Wilderness comes with the enhanced dual-function X-MODE® feature, too.
